City of Fairbanks Police Chief Randall Aragon is back on the job. Chief Aragon was reinstated yesterday after nearly a month on administrative leave. The police chief was put on leave after a public accusation that a private security consulting business he operates is a conflict of interest.
In a release Tuesday, Mayor Eberhart cites numerous reasons for getting Aragon back on the job, including the need for leadership following the shooting of an FPD officer Sunday. Eberhart also says an on-site investigation of Aragon’s security business found nothing requiring corrective or disciplinary action. The city continues to pursue an independent investigation of the chief’s private security business.
