A man found bleeding with multiple wounds on Wednesday night on the outskirts of Anchorage could have been the victim of a bear attack. Anchorage police received a call stating the man was barely responsive and may have been stabbed. Police and medics responded, and took the man to a hospital, where he was pronounced in critical condition.

After further investigating and working with medical staff at the hospital, it was determined that the male was likely attacked by a bear. Police have notified Fish and Game about the incident. Police have not been able to interview the male yet .
State wildlife officials said Thursday a bear has been shot and killed in Anchorage, near where a man might have been severely attacked by the animal.
Department of Fish and Game spokesman Ken Marsh says someone reported seeing a small black bear wandering Thursday in the vicinity. He says agency biologists quickly found the animal, and fatally shot it with a 12-gauge shotgun after the animal showed no fear of humans and stood up when it got close to the responders.
Marsh cautions it hasn’t been determined if the bear attacked anyone.
